Aluinn Birch Woods

On Sunday, April 20, 2008, Aluinn Birch Woods suffered a serious injury to his back right leg. In what can only be called a freak accident, he became entangled in a "hot" electrabrade fence. His efforts to free himself resulted in what I have learned is a "de-gloving," whereby the skin was stripped from his cannon bone. Dr. McCashin and Cindy Hudson of Carolina Equine were able to attend to Birch immediately. At this writing, after almost a month of constant care at Dr. McCashin's, it is looking like Birch may well have a future -- probably not as an eventer or driving pony, but as a treasured family friend and a herd sire as he was originally intended. As a patient, he has been exemplary. His attitude and adaptability are beyond compare. We feel very fortunate.

Indian Summer Jes

Jes is a 2005 filly by *Hohnhorst Branni out of Aladdin's Midnight Jaz. She is a full sibling to Aluinn Bowdoin, our driving pony, and Aluinn Birch, our weanling stallion prospect. All three ponies incorporate the quintessential Connemara attributes of balanced conformation, pleasing personality, quiet disposition and brains.
Everyone that meets Jes loves her. She's been "assisting" the vet, farrier, dentist, fencing contractor, and barn builders for years. She's been known to hand tools to a worker on an electric lift. Needless to say, Jes is not a spook! She is expected to stay pony -- probably 14h or so. Jes was started under saddle in January, 2008. On June 9, 2008, she started with Bill Long to learn to drive. He thinks she has what it takes to be a CDE competitor!
